WINTER NIGHTS IN SUNDERLAND are set to be brightened as the Festival of Light launches its online ticket sales today – Wednesday 9 October.

Part of the Christmas in Sunderland programme, this hugely popular annual event will open the gates of its new home in Mowbray Park, Sunderland City Centre every week Thursday-Sunday from 21 November- 22 December 2019.

Visitors from across the region are invited to come and see the event in a whole new light and discover a range of sparkling new lighting installations, enjoy live music, illuminated street theatre characters and a sprinkling of added extras such as visits from Santa’s reindeer and craft workshops.

Tickets for the Festival of Light are priced at £3 per person with under 2’s admitted free, and there are discounts for visitors booking three or more tickets online. To reward extra keen event goers, customers who book their tickets online before 31 October will go in to a prize draw for a £50 Bridges Shopping Centre voucher.

Leader of Sunderland City Council, Councillor Graeme Miller said: “Every year we bring new lighting features and attractions to the Festival of Light, and this year’s event in Mowbray Park promises to be one of the best yet.

“The city centre location for this year’s event means visitors can enjoy everything Christmas in Sunderland has to offer including the Pantomime at the Sunderland Empire, an ice rink in Keel Square and a great range of shopping, cafes and restaurants for the whole family to enjoy.”
