Eggs, bunnies, activity trails and crafts are just some of the egg-citing Easter treats in store at the Bridges.

Sunderland’s leading shopping centre has launched a programme of activities designed to help families keep little ones entertained right through Easter weekend and until the end of the school holidays.

And the main highlight of the schedule is a free Easter egg trail which runs until 5 April with a prize for everyone who completes it.

All customers have to do to enter is collect a map and stickers from the Customer Services desk before making their way around the centre in search of Mr Men and Little Miss-themed egg displays in retailers’ windows.

They then mark them off their map and, once they’ve found all the egg displays, can return to Customer Services to claim their prize.

Children will also be able to let their creativity run riot at a couple of craft workshops, also at Central Square.

Held on 30 March and 2 April, from 11.30am to 2.30pm, the theme of the workshops will be springtime and places are free.

And good clean fun is the order of the day on 5 April, when one of the centre’s most popular shops, Lush, is holding a bath bomb making session, from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

Throughout the holiday period Central Square at the Bridges will be home to a giant Easter bunny and a soft play area, priced at £2 for a 20-minute slot, with a goodie bag for each child to take home afterwards.

“We’ve had an egg-cellent time planning a whole programme of fun and activities for visitors of all ages,” Karen Eve, centre director at the Bridges.

“And the joy of a day out at the Bridges is that you can have a great time with all the family, whatever the weather.”
