Care specialist secures industry accolade

A North East training business has scooped a prestigious industry award for its work helping to tackle the nation’s social care crisis.

Training in Care was recognised as the Best Care Sector Training Provider at the 2025 Northern Enterprise Awards last month.

The award acknowledged the organisation’s ‘unwavering commitment to delivering training that makes a real difference for both care providers and the professionals they support.’

Training in Care provides bespoke, needs-led programmes designed to address the evolving challenges of the care sector.

Over the past 26 years, the company has helped over 2,500 people enter the care sector, with its courses continually being updated to remain current, compliant and aligned with best practice while ensuring practical, engaging and real-world application.

Its training programmes include face-to-face, blended and in-house training to ensure care providers can continue operating smoothly without disruption, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to supporting care providers in delivering outstanding service.

Dr Angela Brown, CEO of Training in Care, said: “This award recognises the dedication of our team and the many care providers, managers and learners we work with every day.

“Our approach is centred on understanding an organisation’s culture, values and challenges, which then allows us to design training that is relevant, meaningful and immediately impactful, and this award is testament that.

“It is a fantastic achievement for the team and the amazing work they day day-in, day-out, to ensure the nation’s carers are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to provide the best possible care.”

The company is now hoping to build on this success in 2026 with the launch of new, updated courses and the expansion into new markets.

Dr Brown added: “We expanded into Surrey last year and have even great plans afoot this year to continue growing our presence in the UK.

“In partnership with the University of Sunderland and backed by funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we also began delivering a series of business-to-business courses to employers in the North East last year, which proved a huge hit.

“The courses were designed via training needs an analysis, meaning they were tailored to the exact needs of the businesses and voluntary organisations receiving the training, and this is something we’re keen to build on this year.

“It has been another fantastic year for the business and we couldn’t have achieved it without our fantastic team. Hopefully in 2026, there’s even more to come.”

Training in Care’s vocational care courses offer numerous opportunities within the child and adult care sector to those who are either wishing to change career, are leaving education, as well as those who are struggling to find work or who have found themselves in long-term unemployment.
