Families can look forward to a week of affordable Halloween fun at the Bridges this half term, with a spellbinding interactive event for little witches and wizards.
The Witches’ Chamber workshop opens at the Sunderland shopping centre from Monday 26 to Saturday 31 October, where two mischievous witches will lead children through three magical activities:
· Learn an enchanting spell – decode an ancient forgotten spell and recite it together using the giant spell board.
· Create a magical wand – children craft and decorate their own magical wand to take home.
· Brew a magical potion – a fizzing, bubbling potion-making demonstration around the giant cauldron.
Designed for younger children, the workshops offer Halloween fun without the scares. They run every half hour between 11am and 3pm daily/each day, including a dedicated session for children with special educational needs (SEN) at 11am. Tickets cost ÂŁ3 per child (online booking required), with the event supporting the Bradley Lowery Foundation.
Families can also join a free Halloween Trail around the Bridges, hunting for magical ingredients in participating stores. Children collect a map from The Witches’ Chamber and return it completed to Waterstones for a sweet treat and entry into a Halloween hamper prize draw. No booking required.
Karen Eve, Centre Director at the Bridges, said: “Halloween is always a popular time for families, so we wanted to create something that younger children can really get involved in and enjoy without it being too scary.
“The Witches’ Chamber is full of hands-on fun, from learning a spell and making a wand to gathering around our giant cauldron for a bubbling potion demonstration. With sessions just £3 per child, in support of the Bradley Lowery Foundation, plus our free Halloween Trail around the centre, we hope it gives families a fun and affordable way to enjoy half term at the Bridges.”
