Support from local businesses is helping to create memorable cultural experiences for young people across Sunderland.

Last year, Sheepfolds Stables and Tyne Tunnels partnered with the ATG Inspire programme, sponsoring local schools to attend the pantomime at Sunderland Empire. 

Their support enabled school groups to enjoy a performance of Sleeping Beauty, alongside creative workshops and educational activities designed to spark imagination, encourage creativity, and enhance learning.

Rhian Storey, Director of Business Development at Sheepfolds Stables, said: “It was a privilege to be part of the panto partnership and help create opportunities for local children. We feel fortunate to have played a small part in something that has made such a positive difference.”

Leading the campaign for Sunderland Empire is Sales and Development Manager, Paula Toms.

She said: “The success of these partnerships highlights the important role local businesses can play in widening access to arts and culture for children in the region. 

“We are so appreciative of last year’s partners Sheepfolds and Tyne Tunnel, through their support we were able to share the magic of panto to two different school classes. 

“We’re now looking ahead for 2026, and I would love to get more local businesses to support the campaign which will help us reach more schools in the region.”
