The Bridges announces programme of ‘egg-celent’ Easter fun

The Bridges Shopping Centre has unveiled a jam-packed schedule of free, family-friendly Easter activities, running from 3-17 April.

The centre is delivering a line-up of free events to keep children entertained during Easter holidays.

Designed to keep budding explorers and mini-creatives busy during the holidays, the centre’s springtime fun offers a mix of interactive trails, eco-friendly crafts and special guest appearances.

Youngsters will have the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny and friends who will be hopping through the centre on Good Friday and Easter Monday between 11am and 3pm, spreading cheer and handing out chocolate treats to shoppers.

Running daily throughout the holidays, from 3-17 April, the Easter Spring Trail welcomes youngsters to become explorers. Maps can be picked up from The Potting Shed outside of New Look and children can hunt for hidden letters scattered across the centre. Those who crack the code can head to Waterstones to collect a sweet treat and the chance to win an Easter bundle.

The Bridges is also hosting a series of free, hands-on spring crafty workshops in The Potting Shed, from 11am-3pm on selected dates.

Families can enjoy spring wreath making on Tuesday 7 April, creating bee hotels on Thursday 9 April, potting plants on Tuesday 14 April and building bird feeders on Thursday 16 April.

All materials are provided for the workshops, but families are encouraged to bring along their own recyclable items such as egg boxes (spring wreaths), empty bottles and pots (potting plants) to reuse during the craft sessions as the centre champions sustainability.

Karen Eve, Centre Director at the Bridges, said: “We are thrilled to welcome families into the heart of Sunderland to celebrate the season of new beginnings. Our goal is to provide a vibrant, creative and free space for children and their families to learn and explore during the school holidays.”

While all activities are free to attend, the Bridges is encouraging visitors to make a voluntary £2 donation via the coin drop at The Potting Shed, with all proceeds going to charity.
