The University of Sunderland is celebrating after scooping a trio of national marketing awards at a ceremony dubbed the higher education’s Oscars.

The University received the accolades at the HEIST Awards which recognises the most hardworking HE marketing teams in the UK.

The University walked away with three awards:
• Gold for Best Website
• Gold for Best Postgraduate Student Recruitment Initiative
• Silver for HEIST Awards’ Marketing Team of the Year.

Held at Manchester’s Principal Hotel, the annual HEIST – Higher Education Information Services Trust – event celebrates excellence in marketing, public relations and advertising for universities and colleges across the UK.

Sunderland clinched Gold in the Best Postgraduate Student Recruitment Initiative for the Master Your Future campaign which has played a key role in supporting and widening access for students wishing to take on postgraduate study.

A second Gold was awarded in recognition of the University’s website – – which plays a critical role in attracting new students as well as showcasing the institution’s Digital First Initiative.

A Silver award was also achieved in recognition of the whole of the University’s Marketing Team which plays a key role in attracting students in what is a highly competitive market.

Judith Green, the University’s Marketing and Recruitment Director, said: “I’m delighted and very proud of everything the team has achieved – what a result.

“The success is truly a testament to the hard work that goes into developing well researched creative campaigns for brand building and tactical promotional activity, as well as our brilliant website.

“To have brought back to Sunderland three awards is a real achievement. Gold for our website and postgraduate campaign in a highly competitive field is exceptional and I’m also delighted the entire team was recognised in the Marketing Team of the Year category.”
