Stagecoach North East is reminding its customers under 19 in Sunderland and across the north east to renew their VIP ID card, which enables discounted travel across the city and the wider Tyne and Wear region as well as in Northumberland, Teesside and Hartlepool.
As the current VIP ID cards expired on 31 Aug, the local bus operator recommends that young travellers apply for this year’s card as soon as possible to avoid delays during the busy periods in September, ensuring they can keep benefiting from great savings.
Travelling with a VIP ticket can offer customers aged 18 or younger great savings on travel for college, university or leisure time, with the VIP 7-day ticket 50 percent cheaper when compared with an adult 7-day Tyne and Wear megarider ticket.
With a free Stagecoach VIP ID card, children and young people can travel as much as they like on Stagecoach buses in the north east for as little as £1.13 a day with a 28-day VIP ticket, which can bought online for £31.50.
Single VIP tickets can also be bought from the driver for just £1 and 1-day and 7-day tickets can be purchased on the bus or through the mobile app for £2.40 and £8.20 respectively.
Although no longer a requirement, it is recommended for VIP customers to carry and provide ID when buying or using a VIP ticket to prove they are under 19 and avoid any confusion when boarding the bus, however the Nexus Under 16 Pop card, Network One Young Persons ID card and Arriva Teen card are also accepted.
