Sunderland’s leading shopping centre is celebrating a successful 2018, with new retailers and playing an integral role in the city’s prosperity.

The Bridges has added a number of new brands over the last twelve months, including high end confectionary giant, Hotel Chocolat, which has been a huge hit with shoppers.

And the year has been a good one for travel agents, with Dawson and Sanderson joining the growing list of retailers at the Bridges, along with TUI moving to a new location and unveiling as a brand new concept store, giving shoppers a unique way to book holidays.

Other relocations have included gifting brand Collectables, which moved to a new unit double the size of its previous store.

The Bridges has also continued to consolidate its role as one of the key players in the city, giving its support to a number of high profile events.

Along with sponsoring the Tall Ships Races, the Sunderland City 10K and working closely with Sunderland BID to lend support to their renewal campaign, the Bridges continued its support for education initiative, Work Discovery Week.

Andy Bradley, centre director at the Bridges, said it had been a great year for the city.

“2018 has been a busy year for us and we have been thrilled to expand our list of growing retailers to give Sunderland shoppers even more choice when they shop with us,” he said

“Everyone is aware of the challenges the high street is facing so it’s important that we up our game and ensure that visitors to the city can also enjoy other experiences.

“That’s why it so important that we work closely with Sunderland City Council, the BID and continue to support events and campaigns that bring people here.

“We are constantly looking at ways to enhance our offering and hopefully there will be new announcements in 2019.”
