Children of all ages are invited to put pen to paper and create a special Mother’s Day card for their loved one this weekend.

Mother’s Day is on Sunday 19 March and, on Saturday, Sunderland’s the Bridges shopping centre is holding a craft workshop.

Anyone who wants to try their hand at making a card – or even a bunch of flowers – is invited to stop by and let their imagination run riot to mark the occasion.

And a pop-up soft play area will also be on site, offering half hour sessions with a goodie bag for each child.

Many of the centre’s shops are also holding special Mother’s Day offers and initiatives and Karen Eve, Centre Director at the Bridges, believes it’s important to make a fuss of mums.

“In fact, it doesn’t even have to be your mum,” she said. “This can be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate anyone who has been an important mother figure in your life.

“So, come along and make something special for your mum, aunt or grandma.”

The craft workshop takes place between 11am and 3pm and is free to attend, with no need to pre-book, while the soft-play costs £2 per child for a half hour session.
