A young international student’s efforts have been recognised as the best in the business – after she was named the top student across of the University of Sunderland’s business programmes, and won a post in one of the world’s most prestigious businesses.

Luiza Jakubowska graduates this week from the University of Sunderland with MSc Human Resources Management.

As well as achieving the remarkable feat of being named the top student across all of the university’s business courses, she has already landed a role as HR Advisor for Shell, in her native Poland.

Luiza, 25, will be awarded the Ede and Ravenscroft prize for achievement across Postgraduate business programmes.

She said: “I’ve absolutely loved my time at Sunderland, first studying for my degree then my Masters.

“I met some wonderful and wise tutors who really motivated me, and inspired a passion for HR in me. I always felt reassured that I could reach my goals.

“I was lucky enough to have landed a job before graduation. So now I am working as an HR Advisor for Shell in Kraków, Poland.

“I’m hoping to further develop my skills and grow my HR expertise so I can become a people leader in an international organization.

“To be honest, winning the Ede and Ravenscroft prize came as a huge shock to me. I am over the moon to see the results of the hard work I put in to my studies. It feels very rewarding and empowering.”
